8 of the Most Exciting Upcoming Dubai Real Estate Projects

Dubai has become known around the world for its exciting real estate megaprojects. While the COVID-19 pandemic caused some development delays, especially when coupled with a glut of properties in the market, the delayed Expo 2020 has renewed excitement in investing. With new money in the market, many projects are again ramping up construction even if the development rate is not what it was a decade ago. A number of exciting projects are on the horizon for Dubai investors. Some of the most notable ones include:

  1. District 2020—A direct result of Expo 2020, District 2020 will overtake the footprint of the exhibition. Once the exhibition was over, a decision was made to transform it into a new and exciting development. Already, District 2020 is transforming into one of the most iconic communities in Dubai. A lot of planning has gone into this project in terms of creating a community that contributes to a sustainable community in the city. Dubai is currently planning to bring a third metro line into the area to improve accessibility and contribute to the nascent culture of the neighborhood.

  2. Burj Jumeirah—While the Burj Khalifa will remain the tallest building in Dubai for now, the Burj Jumeirah will add another beautiful tower to the skyline. The megaproject is now offering off-plan sales as construction begins. Ultimately, the tower will reach a projected height of 550 meters. The architects behind the tower took inspiration from the dunes of the Arabian desert, as well as the beauty of an oasis. The result will be a majestic structure with multiple viewing platforms providing breathtaking views of the rest of the city. Burj Jumeirah is set for delivery by the end of 2023.

  3. Marsa Al Arab—Designed as the next great tourist destination in Dubai, Maras Al Arab will comprise two artificial islands on either side of the Burj Al Arab Hotel. The attraction will include theme parks, entertainment venues, and unique hotels, as well as luxury villas and some leisure infrastructure. The current plan is for the first island to become a luxury resort while the second focuses more on family-centered tourism. In other words, the attraction will have something for just about every tourist coming to Dubai, not to mention residents seeking out a luxury experience.

  4. Mall of the World—As the name implies, the Mall of the World is set to become the largest mall on the planet once it is completed. The project includes a massive indoor theme park and pedestrian street, as well as wellness areas, in addition to retail spaces. One of the most unique features of the project is a large roof made of glass and designed to slide open when the weather is nice or remain closed when appropriate. This will make it possible to get more sun exposure in the winter, but remain cool in the summer.

  5. Meydan One—Already under development and anticipated for a number of years, Meydan One is a massive project with both residential and commercial space, as well as some public infrastructure. The heart of the project remains Meydan One Tower with other features including what will be the world’s longest indoor ski slope at Meydan One Mall. Another attraction is a 380-meter tall dancing fountain, the largest of its kind in existence, and a man-made lagoon. The final project will also have a medical center, hypermarkets, and a lounge with views of the water.

  6. Deira Islands—This project consists of four artificial islands located off the coast of Deira that have not yet been developed. The exciting thing about these islands is that they include more than 20 kilometers of beach. Originally, these islands were set to become part of the Palm Jumeirah archipelago. However, they later got associated with Deira. A bridge has connected the islands to the mainland since 2016 but development is still not yet underway. The final project will include residences, hotels, and shopping centers. The islands are meant to become an attraction for tourists and a gorgeous place for residents to relax.

  7. Palm Flower—An Alpago Properties building, the Palm Flower will be on the West Beach of the Palm Jumeirah. The 11-floor building will have 10 entire-floor units and one two-floor penthouse. The design of the building comes from British architect Norman Foster, also known for the The Mobility Pavilion at Expo City. What makes the Palm Flower so special are the floor-to-ceiling windows of each unit for sweeping views of the Arabian Gulf. The building will also feature high-end amenities like a private cinema and full terrace with a pool overlooking the sea and a lush garden.

  8. Wasl Tower—Another striking skyscraper being built in Dubai is Wasl Tower, which has now completed more than 50 floors with the facade up to level 13. When completed, the tower will have the tallest ceramic facade in the entire region. The structure is designed to give the illusion of motion with an asymmetric footprint and a twisting appearance. The final project will consist of 64 floors and contain the second Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Dubai, as well as 229 residential units and 11 parking floors. Plus, nearly 200,000 square feet in office space will be available for rent within the structure, which will become a distinguishing part of the Dubai skyline.
